Who said that?

Metaphorically speaking.......................................

there was a twinge - actually a stabbing pain. Whose voice is that - who is speaking those words in that tone.? I don't know this person. I did but now I don't. A blanket of grief overcame me - a loss so profound my heart sank -
my head bowed -
hands folded -
silent thoughts spun in my mind - of resistance and fear.
Who can I tell -
after all, it was just a few words.
Words of revelation - eye opening revelation spoken defensively - confidently - even righteously.
I did not recognize this style of speaking from this person -
it is/was foreign to me.
Not anymore though,
the next time will be easier to hear,
or will it?

  1. Unfortunately, probably not.

I often tell my clients that when someone launches a ball at you, you do not have to catch it. Of course, it still shoots by your ear and sends you a message. Put it down when you are able.

    Take care Gail.

  2. HEY BONNIE-

Interesting words of advice. I have a feeling that this will ebb and flow - it is part of the reality and I will put it down and or aside as best I can while still holding on to all the other words and tones that are good and familiar. "Thank you" for taking the time to share.

    Loved to you

  3. Well I suppose anyone is capable of saying or doing anything for whatever reason. I guess if we keep this in mind perhaps words or something else won't be as much of a shock!

  7. Strange thoughts, but i was once told that God can speak to our hearts through anyone, even a donkey.

Where these burning words come from,
that so deeply pierce my heart.
    their intent is to motivate,
    teach,
    direct,
    not to harm.
How strange that love might have this form.

  10. Oh the power of the tongue! It can heal us or destroy us, and hurtful words seem to dash so much deeper into our hearts, than the soft tender voice of the Lord.

Read the 'God Memorandum' for a hundred nights!!! Yes, a 100 and you will be just fine.

    You are a miracle!

  13. Gail, when I first started reading I thought you were talking about yourself.
Someone else? I think that's almost harder to deal with. You can't control what is launched at you, but you can control if and how you will accept it. But it's more the feeling of reeling off emotional balance that is going to take time to recover from!

If it's a very dear relationship, that's a hard one, because some of the trust and security gets chipped away. I've been there. Not a good feeling at all.
I know that 'who is this person?' feeling. Is this not the one person in the whole world I could count on? Where did this person disappear to?

    I'll say a prayer.
    Love to you,
    Eileen

  18. Hi Gail,

I'm not sure if this is the same thing at all but I remember, years ago, my sister. She was always so supportive of my being gay and then, during a general conversation she came out with 'Well, I wouldn't want my children taught by a gay teacher'.

Needless to say I was shocked. The hurt I felt was great. But, in time it passed. However, I know it never quite disappeared and I was always waiting for the next 'eye-opener' from her although, when they came, it didn't hurt so much.

If this is the same sort of thing then you are right - the next time will be easier to hear - or, rather than 'hear' I would say 'bear'.

  20. Stay open ... although you may not at first recognize the tone and the impact at first seems strange and forceful you do know if you choose yourself to know ...

  22. I experienced this once, from someone I love dearly...the hurt it caused me was from their own pain. That was years ago, today the mutual love and appreciation is even stonger and more vocally expressed to each other.
    Time heals.
